January 8, 2015, Kalibo, Aklan--Super typhoon Yolanda victims under Rise Up Aklan and militants under Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN)-Akan hold a picket rally today in front of the Aklan Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office to demand for the fair and unconditional release of the P10,000.00/P30,000.00 shelter assistance for the victims of Yolanda whose houses were partially and totally damaged during its landfall on November 8,2013.
Aquino government through the Office of Presidential Assistance for Recovery and Reconstruction (OPARR) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development is imposing directives and schemes along with the release of shelter assistance to which, on these processes, those victims whose houses were already rebuilt through the aids of private and non-government organizations as well as, those whose earning exceeds from P15,000.00 a month, shall be disenfranchised from the list of recipients of this assistance.
“Aquino has no reason to come-up with discriminating schemes and directives on our claims for shelter assistance, for the president has nothing to brag on, on our very own effort for recovery for until now, he almost done nothing to us when we speak of rehabilitating our homes and livelihood. Torn plastic coated tents, intense hunger and illness likewise, overpriced and unlivable bunkhouses are of clear proofs to this.” Lambasted, Rise Up Aklan Coordinator, Mr. Kim-Sin F. Tugna.
“The US puppet government of BS Aquino III is keep on mumbling on the evaluation and series of reevaluations on the condition of the victims of super typhoon Yolanda so to disparately justify his act of getting even from the funds that collected out of selling the devastated lives of the victims.” Said, BAYAN-Aklan Chair George T. Calaor. “Aquino has nothing to evaluate except for his ride onto, the donations and services provided for the victims, by different independent donors in the local and abroad. This is a clear and gravest act of stealing committed by Aquino against Yolanda victims and the Filipino people. Grabbing the food right from the lips of the sick and hungry and letting everyone live in the yards of homelessness like stray animals under the caprices and lies of this corrupt government? We cannot imagine what good face President Aquino will wear, when he meet the Pope while keeping this crime against humanity under his coat. Isusumbong siya talaga ng mamamayan sa Papa.” Calaor further.
The protest action will proceed to Crossing Banga—New Washington for the short program.###
